Can I play Playstation 2 games on Playstation 3?

I have a playstation 3 and its not backwards compatible I think so,I mean really don’t know whether its compatible or not so can anyone please tell me anyway to find whether it plays playstation 2 games or not?
Yes you can PS3 is advanced so u can play PS2 and PS games on PS3
PS3 is cool, it was more complicated games but it’s more realistic
but u can play all playstation games on the PS3

Yes, you can. Only on the higher versions of PS3s though.
The simple answer is if your PS3 is any of these models then yes it is backwards compatible:
20GB PS3
60GB PS3
80GB PS3 with 4 USB slots.
If your PS3 is any of these models then no it will not play PS2 games:
PS3 40GB
PS3 80 2 USB slots
Slim PS3s.
