Do video game consoles actually damage regular or HDTVs?

I have an Xbox 360 and just bought an HDtv (LCD). I had heard people say that video game consoles can do damage to HDtvs and I was just wondering if there was any truth to it.

It mainly applies to Plasma tv’s any game or even tv channel that has something that is constantly on the screen in one spot that does not move can "Burn in" on the screen and cause it to either have a ghost of that image there permanently or the actual image there. Like the map on Grand Theft Auto, even CNN and any channel with a banner on it can cause it, thats why most channels with the Ticker on them have moving Icons of their name like CNN and CNBC all move..
Most games have the ability for them to move around and change shape so this won’t happen, but if your playing a game that has something that does not move or change don’t play it longer than an hour at a time. Take breaks in games anyways..
Oh and to those that say its a myth, go and leave a pause screen on your tv and not allow your screensaver to come on and leave it there for an hour or more and see what happens
Thats why most tv’s have a screensaver built into them also if something is on the screen and doesnt change after a few minutes
no it wont damage it, but xbox 360s have a hdtv cable, just plug them in and switch the switch to hd.

That’s a new one. Most consoles today come with HDTV support, so I think the possibility of it damaging them is highly unlikely.
