How Do I Save My PlayStation 1 Games While Playing My Them On My PlayStation 2?

I have Final Fantasy VII and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 for PlayStation, but all I have is this PlayStation 2, and I know it’s backwards compatible with PlayStation 1 games. So all I am asking is do I need a PlayStation 1 Memory Card? Or what’s the deal here?

save it on a playstation one memory card…
if you want, you can back the files on it up to your PS2 mem card
just copy them over so if it gets erased all you have to do is move them back from the PS2 card to the PS1 card
