The game is programmed to view the playing area through a virtual "camera". If you play a game that uses splitscreen, there are 2 cameras projecting the image onto the screen, each camera’s viewing space is divided to fit one section per camera.
example: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
1 player playing means only 1 camera is active,
let’s pretend (which it probably is true but correct me if I’m wrong) that the main resolution for cod4 running on the ps3 is 1280 x 720
The 1 camera will be stretched to fit 1280 pixels across and 720 pixels down
now let’s say that there were 2 players playing cod4. the view would normally be split from left to right. so each camera will be 1280 pixels wide and 360 pixels tall with 1 camera on the top half and another on the bottom.
the same can be applied for 3 players or 4 players, however many the game wants to have, though normally it’s 4 players maximum.

hope this helps.
It’s the game that tell’s the console. to split the screen
I would say both. The game has the split screen OPTION. and the console commands it, and shows it on the screen.
well its the console, you can download a program or get a disc to put in it to get it to split screen
Game tells the console, console tells the TV what to display.
Lol your a black kid with a yellow mullet.
Anyways leave that stuff to electrical engineers to worry about and be happy it works
The tv just reflects what the console is telling it to do… the split screen is because of the console.
……its the videogame, the console just shows whts on the videogame…..the tv shows any picture sent to it
the vidoe game consle is hard to explain to some one who dos’nt understand he’s it in a nut shell
consle runs tow or more feeds into the tv to play basicly put
Its the game that sends the console the information to project it up on the TV.
