Do original playstation games being played on a playstation 2 need an original playstation memory card to save

i’m playing Lode Runner the Legend Returns for the original playstation on my playstation 2. When i try to save the game it says "no memory card found" on the game screen. Is this because i’m using a playstation 2 memory card? Do i need an original playstation memory card to save?

Is it possible to play gameboy advance games on a DS for the full size of the screen?

Whenever I play, theres always a border around the game screen so its the size of the gameboy advance screen. Is there a way to stretch it so you can play gameboy advance games on the full size DS screen? Thanks
As I remember the l or r thing was for Gameboy games played on gameboy advance. Not Gameboy Advance games on DS. Gameboy advance games need the l and r buttons for gameplay.
