Installing call of duty modern warfare 2 hardened edition?

Ok well i have call of duty modern warfare 2 hardened edition and a few days ago i got the perfect circle scratch, althow the cd still boots up, i cant play any levels or any maps. So i want to know, If i install my friends call of duty modern warfare 2 on my xbox 360 will mine start working,

PS: what im worried about is that the hardened edition and the normal one have different disks, and he has the normal one, so please tell me if it will work.

I have call of duty waw and played it a little, but the tanks were so rubbish, and all the noobs were using them, which meant it was damn hard to get any kill streaks. Does any1 know if modern warfare 2 will have vehicles in because if it does it will seriously make online a lot worse.
