Are playstation 2 games compatible with playstation 3 and vice versa?

I am wondering if a playstation 2 game can be played on a playstation 3 and vice versa – this is for a present, and I am not sure what the difference is, or if it matters. Thanks!

I never play playstation 2 anymore but I have a ton of games! What should/can I do with them? If I could sell them that would be the best thing ever, but do people still play playstation 2? I like both Nintendo and PlayStation.
If Nintendo gets more 3rd party support, I would go with Nintendo all the way.

I was contemplating getting a psp for my husband and I, but I was wondering if the games are full version or not? I don’t want to buy half a game and have the good stuff cut out if I can buy it for my playstation 2 and play the whole thing…thanks and let me know what you think of the games too.

I’m trying to find out a site that I can download Playstation 2 games legally. Anyone know a good one?
Also, I just have a cd burner on my computer. Will that work for burning off the games or do I need a DVD burner?

My mom is the one who told me about downloading PS2 games online. She has some sort of chip or something that allows you to do it. I want to pay for downloading games, but need to know how to do it and which site to use.
